What is Tadacip?
Tadacip is marketed in some countries as a tadalafil tablet for erectile dysfunction. Tadalafil is a PDE5 inhibitor and is the active ingredient in licensed UK products including certain Cialis presentations and authorised generics. That does not mean Tadacip has UK authorisation or that a tablet bought from an unknown website contains the ingredient and strength printed on its pack. Regulatory approval applies to the exact product, manufacturing controls and legal supply chain.
How tadalafil supports an erection
Tadalafil helps blood vessels relax so blood flow can increase during sexual stimulation. It does not increase libido and does not cause an automatic erection. The NHS says some people prescribed tadalafil for erectile dysfunction may be instructed to take one tablet at least 30 minutes before sex. Other people may receive a lower daily regimen. The correct approach depends on health, other medicines and the authorised product supplied; it should never be copied from an unverified brand’s marketing.
Why tadalafil can last longer than sildenafil
Tadalafil’s effects can remain available for up to 36 hours, while sildenafil generally has a shorter treatment window. This does not mean an erection lasts 36 hours. Sexual arousal is still required, and individual response varies. A longer window can also extend the period during which interactions and side effects matter. It is unsafe to combine tadalafil with sildenafil or another ED medicine in an attempt to improve results.
Is Tadacip licensed for UK supply?
Tadacip should not be presented as an MHRA-authorised UK medicine. The MHRA warns that unauthorised ED products may contain the wrong dose, hidden drugs, toxic ingredients or no active ingredient. The regulator reported in 2026 that millions of illegally traded ED doses had been seized, with sildenafil and tadalafil among the ingredients encountered. A familiar ingredient name, low price or polished website is not evidence of a legitimate product.
Nitrates and other important interactions
Tadalafil is not usually prescribed with nitrates such as glyceryl trinitrate for chest pain because the combination can cause a dangerous fall in blood pressure. “Poppers” containing amyl nitrite or related nitrites carry a similar concern. A clinician should also review medicines for blood pressure, prostate symptoms, HIV, epilepsy and fungal or bacterial infections, plus supplements and recreational drugs. Tell the prescriber about liver or kidney problems and any recent heart attack or stroke.
Food, grapefruit and alcohol
The NHS advises against grapefruit juice while taking tadalafil. Alcohol can increase the risk of low blood pressure, dizziness or light-headedness, and heavy drinking may make an erection more difficult. Food is generally less influential on tadalafil absorption than it can be with some sildenafil use, but that is not a reason to ignore the supplied leaflet. Follow directions for the exact authorised medicine and contact a pharmacist if instructions are unclear.
Side effects and when to seek help
Common effects include headache, flushing, indigestion, stuffy nose, back pain and muscle aches. The NHS advises urgent help for serious symptoms such as chest pain, sudden hearing or vision problems, difficulty breathing, a seizure, a severe allergic reaction or a prolonged painful erection. If more than the prescribed amount has been taken, contact NHS 111. Do not compensate for a missed daily dose by taking two doses.
Checking a UK online service
Use a UK-registered pharmacy and expect a meaningful health assessment. Check the pharmacy on the General Pharmaceutical Council register, the doctor on the GMC register and relevant online care services with the CQC. Avoid social-media sellers, messaging apps and sites that promise prescription medicine without questions.
